Imagine Austin’s version of the Tony Awards. Every year, the Long Center brings together over thirty schools from our community to shine the spotlight on the hard work of thousands of students and teachers involved in arts education.

Throughout the academic year, participating high school productions in the Greater Austin area will vie for a coveted award as selected by a panel of arts professionals culminating in a Tony Awards-style ceremony to be held at the Long Center for the Performing Arts.

In a spectacular evening of celebration, more than 500 high schoolers will take to the Long Center’s Dell Hall stage to perform in front of a sold out audience and share over $35,000 in awards, scholarships, and grants.

  • See the official GAHSMTA Calendar for more upcoming important dates for participating schools.
  • And don’t forget to follow GAHSMTA on Facebook for all the latest news, updates, school performances, and more!

The Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards Ceremony will celebrate the outstanding achievements of high school teachers and students with a combination of school performances, multi-school student performances, beautiful glass trophies, college scholarships, and program grants. Students will experience the thrill of performing on a state-of-the-art stage in a professional venue. The Long Center and its partners are proud to showcase the talent and dedication of our local high school musical theatre students as they perform for the community at large.

Join us at the Long Center to recognize the hard work of students and teachers and to celebrate the importance of musical theatre and arts education within our community.

This prestigious group of students will be chosen by audition only. The Select Ensemble will perform throughout the evening, as well as participating in exclusive opening and closing numbers designed specifically for the awards show.
