The Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards Offers A Variety of Scholarships.

The Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards (GAHSMTA) will be awarding scholarships to outstanding participating students. The Scholarship Committee will thoroughly review all applications and select award recipients. The scholarship award recipients will be announced the evening of the awards ceremony. GAHSMTA College Scholarships (funded by Wells Fargo) – The college scholarship program offers a total of $10,000 annually to students after an extensive application process. Directors choose two students from each participating school.

College Audition Program (CAP) Training Scholarship – CAP offers high school Juniors and Seniors rigorous preparation for the college audition process. Carefully structured to offer students and their families individualized consultation, training, and practical preparation for their musical theatre and acting college auditions

  • Program tuition (Donated and provided by the Long Center)
  • Headshots (Donated and provided by ABM photography)
  • Support with college admissions essays (Donated and provided by Susan Ansorge, PhD)
  • Travel and accommodations for Unified Auditions in Chicago
  • One on one application, material, and scheduling assistance throughout the college application process

Studio School Training Scholarship – The Studio School (Los Angeles) combines comprehensive training in acting for all genres, voice, musicianship, dance, musical theatre performance and entertainment industry business courses to create an entrepreneurial approach to creating success. They will award one student with a $5,000 scholarship per year for four years to its BFA in Contemporary Musical Theatre and Film.

Texas Arts Project (TAP) Training Scholarship – TAP will award 2 full scholarships to a 3 or 4-week sleep-away summer intensive for musical theatre, acting, filmmaking, and songwriting. Each scholarship includes full tuition to a 3-week professional level training program and an optional concentrated college audition prep week.

Texas Musical Theatre Workshop Training Scholarship – Full scholarship includes all scheduled classes and activities for Texas Musical Theatre Workshop provided by The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance plus  housing at The University of Texas and all meals (value: $2,750.00).

Zach Pre-Professional Company (PPC)  Training Scholarship – The overall goal of Zach PPC is to improve overall technique, prepare students for college and career training, and to provide opportunities that help students grow as performing artists. The award includes free tuition to the program.


The Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards are presented by the Long Center for the Performing Arts with the University of Texas at Austin Department College of Fine Arts and ZACH Theatre, with Scholarship Sponsor Wells Fargo, Founding Sponsors Carolyn and Marc Seriff.
