Willie Nelson makes his highly anticipated return to ACL on the anniversary of the pilot taping to commemorate Austin City Limits’ remarkable half-century run with a Texas-sized outdoor concert on the lawn at the Long Center. Austin originals Asleep at the Wheel will get the party started lone-star style with an opening set for the occasion.
October 17, 1974 was the day Austin City Limits welcomed Willie Nelson to the stage for the first time to tape the pilot episode of what would go on to be the longest running music television show in American history.
