The ninth annual Oita Japan Festival #OitaATX is scheduled Sunday, September 22, 11 am – 4 pm at the Long Center at 701 W. Riverside Drive, Austin, TX 78704. Doors open at 10:45 am. The Austin-Oita Sister City Committee (AOSCC) hosts the event to celebrate Austin’s Japanese Sister City, Oita.
This family-friendly festival will include Japanese food and drink, kids’ activities, cultural education and more. Attendees will experience JPOP, Japanese drumming, Japanese shodo calligraphy, modern-rock shamisen Japanese guitar, dancing, sumo, martial arts, kendo, jyuku, kyudo, tea ceremony, kimono dressing, doing business in Japan seminar, a talk on Japanese gardening, an artisan and festival marketplace – and more! Some of the featured performers are from our sister city of Oita, Japan.
AOSCC’s mission is to promote and heighten public interest in and appreciation of the culture, people, languages, businesses, and products between the City of Austin and Oita, Japan. Oita, one of Austin’s 13 Sister Cities, has been a Sister City to Austin since 1990.

- All patrons, regardless of age, require a ticket to attend the performance.
