Four Reasons to Cozy up at Home with the Long Center this Holiday
Posted on November 24, 2020 by Long
To gather safely or not to gather at all? We know this is the question on everyone’s minds this year. Lucky for you, we’ve got four reasons to get comfy at home with your household (we mean pets, too) — eggnog, hot chocolate, and chestnuts in hand — for some entertainment this holiday.
Check out these events coming up next month and don’t be afraid to break out that ugly sweater early.
DECEMBER 7 | 7:30pm
This annual Austin holiday tradition has been at the Long Center since we opened in 2008. But don’t think a pandemic would keep Conspirare away from the music! They’re taking this iconic event to your screen December 7th with a free digital stream so you can still enjoy the music and community you love even though we’re apart.
A VIRTUAL CHRISTMAS VACATION WITH THE GRISWOLDS
NOVEMBER 28 & DECEMBER 19 | 7pm
With Clark & Beverly!
Light up your holidays and join Christmas’ favorite couple, Ellen and Clark Griswold for this virtual salute to the holiday classic, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. And yes, Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo will be there in your living room! You’ll hear their take on fan-favorite clips from the movie, their fave memories of the Vacation franchise, and they’ll answer your questions in a live audience Q&A.
THE HIP HOP NUTCRACKER
DECEMBER 5 | 7pm
This is not your grandparents’ Nutcracker. Trade your sugar plum dreams of a Bavarian winter for the modern-day streets of New York City in this supercharged mash-up for the whole family that pits contemporary dance with Tchaikovsky’s timeless music. Picture battles with gangs of mice, visits to the land of sweets, and plenty of holiday spirit with a twist.
ELEANOR’S VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS WISH
NOVEMBER 27 – DECEMBER 27
Instead of watching Rudolph for a 9th time, take the family for a spin with another land of misfit toys and follow along with Eleanor, the rag doll, on her magical, musical journey filled with heartwarming lessons for kids of all ages.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE!
We’re so bummed to not have the opportunity to host our family-favorite annual event Santa on the Terrace this year. But keep your eyes peeled — we’ll make sure you still get your fave family photo on our H-E-B Terrace! Stay tuned for more socially-distant details, and we’ll see you back here soon.
