Grimm, a new studio album from composer Graham Reynolds, is an original score for Ballet Austin’s “Grimm Tales” that premiered with a 25 person live ensemble in early 2019 at the Long Center. Synthesizers, drum loops, and samples merge with pencil and paper acoustic music to create a hybrid of the orchestra and the computer, a bit unlike anything Graham has done before. These familiar childhood stories are turned into a sonic reflection of what happens when naiveté meets wickedness, and the balance between good and evil is in question. A note from Graham’s team: All proceeds for the sale of this album through the end of July via Bandcamp will be donated to the Black Lives Matter organization.
