The Long Center in partnership with ZACH Theatre and the University of Texas at Austin College of Fine Arts present the 6th Annual Greater Austin High school Musical Theatre Awards, hosted by Tyler Mount, Wednesday, April 17 in Dell Hall.
Join us for a spectacular evening marking the sixth anniversary of this program where 30 area high schools and over 2000 participating students will gather for an evening of live performances, awards, scholarships, special guests, and more!
Performances include fully executed numbers from all 8 schools nominated for Best Musical, as well as special medleys featuring nominated students from multiple categories, the Long Center Select Ensemble, and to top off the evening a song and dance finale extravaganza.
Awards are given in 15 categories—be sure and check out this year’s full list of nominees! In addition to beautiful glass trophies for each award recipient, $35,000 in college scholarships, school program grants, and training opportunities will be given away.
We’re also thrilled to announce that this year will see the return of our host, Tyler Mount, Olivier Nominated and Tony Award-winning producer and Broadway’s most noted social influencer. A graduate of St. Edward’s University and alumnus of Summer Stock Austin, Mount spent many of his formative years active in Austin’s arts community. His Broadway & West End credits include: Hadestown, The Inheritance, Once On This Island, On Your Feet: The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan, An American In Paris, Viva Broadway: Gloria Estefan LIVE! and The Cradle Will Rock starring Patti LuPone.
