The Long Center is Austin’s Front Row, built by the community for the community, and we take our role very seriously.

We give back each year by supporting dozens of local groups and arts-based organizations and providing a community gathering place for boot camps, flash mobs, meetings and races. We collaborate with our Founding Resident Companies and Resident Companies to entertain over 100,000 local children annually, and we have donated more than $136,000 in tickets to social and education-based organizations since opening in 2008. The Long Center also expands Austin’s cultural perspective by hosting a free concerts and community events on our H-E-B Terrace.

Long Center in the Community

Community Funded

It is truly the community’s generosity and commitment to the arts that fuels the Long Center’s continued success. During the campaign to fund the Long Center, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long provided a visionary gift of $22 million. However, the vast majority of donations were under $500. Today, individual donors contribute more than $1 million annually.

Non-Profit Venue

The Long Center is a 501(c)(3) organization and is one of Austin’s few non-profit live entertainment venues. We accept donations of any size (to the extent permitted by law), and donor benefits such as advance ticket purchase and invitations to cast parties begin with only a $125 annual contribution.

Economic Impact

Combined with our Founding Resident Companies and local performing organizations, we generate $43 million in annual economic activity within the Austin community. This directly supports 950 jobs and generates $16 million in labor income. An estimated $20 million of on-site activity occurs each year, with an additional $5 million in off-site spending by attendees and visitors. We expect more than 280,000 people to pass through the building in 2013.
