Community Outreach

The Long Center is Austin’s Front Row, built by the community for the community, and we take our role very seriously. We give back each year by supporting dozens of local groups and arts-based organizations and by providing a community gathering place for boot camps, flash mobs, meetings, and races. We collaborate with our Resident Companies to entertain over 100,000 local children annually, and we have donated more than $136,000 in tickets to social and education-based organizations since opening in 2008. The Long Center also expands Austin’s cultural perspective by hosting free concerts and community events on our H-E-B Terrace.

Community Funded

It is truly the community’s generosity and commitment to the arts that fuels the Long Center’s continued success. During the campaign to fund the Long Center, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long provided a visionary gift of $22 million. However, the vast majority of donations were under $500. Today, individual donors contribute more than $1 million annually.
