Summer Stock Austin presents A Shoe Story, July 25 – August 12 in the Rollins Studio Theatre.

Sydney, a 13th generation shoemaker, lives in a flooded town. Her business is failing and Sydney will have to close the shop for good if she can’t sell her last pair of shoes. But when a shoeless girl arrives at her door, the shoemaker gives the shoes away. Luckily for Sydney some refugee elves, on the run from the law, decide to make shoes for her in exchange for a safe place to stay. What is there to do but to solve everyone’s problems with rap battles, lounge singing, and magical, tap-dancing shoes? It’s a story your entire family will enjoy! A Tall Tale… with plenty of Heart and Sole! Did we mention the rap battle/pun-off?  Perfect for all ages.

Buy tickets to any three Summer Stock Austin performances of Irving Berlin’s Annie Get Your Gun, Monty Python’s Spamalot or A Shoe Story and save 10%! Purchase your Summer Stock Austin season package here.

This year Summer Stock Austin will also be hosting a shoe and clothing drive to benefit the Refugee Services of Texas. Donation bins will be located in the Rollins Theatre lobby throughout the Summer Stock Austin 2017 season. Bring shoes and clothing to help refugees in Austin get back on their feet!

About Summer Stock Austin

Now entering its 13th season, there isn’t any other program in the country quite like Austin’s own SUMMER STOCK AUSTIN. From performing to designing and building sets, these high school and college students from across the country learn about every part of a professional theatre company–all the while working side-by-side with local and national theatre professionals. High school students learn from college students who learn from professionals. Performers and technicians are picked based on their demonstrated talent, promise and character. The “company” rehearses for three weeks to mount three fully produced musicals in the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center. The program is supported by ticket sales and through the generous donations of arts supporters.
