Summer Stock Austin presents ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, August 2 – 12 in the Rollins Studio Theatre.

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, Irving Berlin’s glorious wild west spectacle, celebrates the legendary sure-shot, Annie Oakley. ANNIE GET YOUR GUN is loosely based on the true story of renowned sharpshooter Annie Oakley and her tempestuous romance with gunslinger Frank Butler. The musical features countless standards, including “You Can’t Get a Man With a Gun,” “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “I Got Lost in His Arms,” and “Anything You Can Do.” The original production, starring Ethel Merman, opened at the imperial Theatre on May 16, 1946 and proved to be Berlin’s longest-running Broadway show, playing 1147 performances. The 1999 revival attracted the talents of Bernadette Peters and Reba McEntire. Join us for one of Broadway’s most loved musicals!

About Summer Stock Austin

Now entering its 13th season, there isn’t any other program in the country quite like Austin’s own SUMMER STOCK AUSTIN. From performing to designing and building sets, these high school and college students from across the country learn about every part of a professional theatre company–all the while working side-by-side with local and national theatre professionals. High school students learn from college students who learn from professionals. Performers and technicians are picked based on their demonstrated talent, promise and character. The “company” rehearses for three weeks to mount three fully produced musicals in the Rollins Theatre at the Long Center. The program is supported by ticket sales and through the generous donations of arts supporters.
