Andrea Ariel Dance Theatre presents HEART, September 26-29 at the Long Center.

“The heart has its own language. The heart knows a hundred thousand ways to speak.” Rumi

Join Andrea Ariel Dance Theatre for an evening of tantalizing dance theatre and music featuring a collection of new works by Artistic Director, Andrea Ariel and guest choreographers Sharon Marroquin (three-time winner of the Austin Critics Table Award for Outstanding Choreographer), Steve Ochoa (Jerome Robbins’ Broadway (Original Cast), Cats (Mistoffelees), Dendy Dance and Theater, Feld Ballet, “Nixon in China”), Heloise Gold (a key artist in development of Austin’s experimental dance scene since the 1980’s.) and Jessica Lindberg (Society of Dance History Scholars).

The performance includes original music composed by award-winning Composer, Graham Reynolds: line upon line percussion; and Nick Hennies. These adventurous choreographic works bring together physically compelling movement and evocative imagery crafted to the complex rhythms of percussion pieces and the exquisite melodies of string and piano compositions.

A show not to be missed!

What does HEART mean to you? For Andrea Ariel Dance Theatre it means community, sharing, and healing. Reaching out to the community through a series of workshops, Andrea Ariel and her collaborators have taken the discoveries they have made with others to inspire their to newest performance, HEART.

This collaboration of artists will feature an adaptation of Jessica Lindberg’s reconstruction of Loie Fuller’s choreography using fabric and light, Fire Dance, created in 1896, as well as four exciting new works, telling the story of HEART through dance. Audiences will leave the performance with a new appreciation of HEART and experience the many perspectives we share.
