The Long Center is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit dedicated to broadening the appreciation and enhancing the enjoyment of the cultural arts.

The public debut in Austin of the documentary film about the 9-time Grammy-award winning Western Swing band Asleep at the Wheel, followed by a full concert, September 8 in Dell Hall.

It’s hard to believe that the Wheel has been making great Western Swing music for over four decades! You’ll travel back in time when their new documentary film “Then and Now” opens the evening with its time-capsule look at the long-haired youth that made up the band in the early ’70s. Then founding member Ray Benson and the current members of the Wheel take the stage to demonstrate why they’ve earned the nickname of “the official band of Texas.”
