The Classic Tony Award-Winning Production ‘ANNIE’ Comes to Austin’s Creative Home Thanksgiving Weekend November 25 – 26

August 25, 2016 (Austin, TX)—The tuneful redhead who reminded us that we’re “never dressed without a smile,” is coming to Austin for three performances this Thanksgiving weekend! Perfect for families and friends as well as Broadway fans new and old, the world’s best-loved musical returns in time-honored form, with original lyricist and director Martin Charnin returning to provide a classic production you won’t soon forget. The Tony Award®-winning ANNIE is at the Long Center November 25 and 26. Tickets are available today!

From comic, to stage, to film, whatever incarnation of Little Orphan Annie you choose as your favorite, most agree that Annie in any form is a treat. Since 1924, Harold Gray’s orange-headed, white-eyed cartoon girl and her trusty dog, Sandy (“Arf!”), have been delighting audiences with adventurous trouble, goofs, and delights. Film after film and stage after stage, Annie shows no signs of slowing down. Directed by original lyricist and director Martin Charnin and choreographed by Liza Gennaro, this production of ANNIE will be a brand new incarnation of the iconic original.

As a constant figure in our pop culture today, the unforgettable songs of ANNIE including “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “Easy Street,” and “I Don’t Need Anything But You,” continue to be catchy and relatable, even in 2016. Plus, the eternal anthem of optimism, “Tomorrow,” never disappoints. Featuring book and score by Tony Award®-winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse, and Martin Charnin, it’s no secret why the Boston Herald says, “It’s easy to sing ANNIE’s praises.”

Take advantage of your holiday weekend, interrupt that hard knock life of yours, and settle in for a few hours filled with the tunes, feels, and moments that have made ANNIE a musical theatre staple.
