Won’t you join us for dinner?

First up is The Addams Family. Join us in a bizarre new story featuring Charles Addams’ original cartoon characters. Wednesday Addams brings home her “normal” boyfriend to her “anything-but-normal” family and their mysterious life. This musical comedy challenges these adored characters in a story of young love, family rivalry, jealous tension, and much more.

Original directors and designers Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch stage this show through the eyes of Fester. Their vision is an ode to vaudeville and classic Broadway with a deeply theatrical set full of delicate hand painted scenery and a perfectly dilapidated mansion. Every character, prop, and set piece is faithful to the elegant and eerie world of Charles Addams.

Witness this weirdly wonderful sensation July 22 – August 13 in Rollins Studio Theatre.

Enter a fairy tale world…

Next, Hans Christian Andersen’s fateful tale of star-crossed toys comes alive on stage in The Steadfast Tin Soldier. This is the charming story of Lucas, a one-legged toy soldier, who will risk everything to aid Rosalind, a ballerina princess who captures his heart. Allen Robertson and Damon Brown create a musical adventure full of thrills, romance, and unforgettable characters.

In some ways, Hans Christian Andersen’s own life much resembled a fairy tale. He rose from poverty and hardship to become one of the most beloved writers of all time. He was born in Denmark to a shoemaker and a washerwoman, and his path to education and rise to fame were slow and difficult. At 30, he wrote his first book of fairy tales; it was met with immediate popularity. Some of Andersen’s stories celebrate the optimistic triumph of good over evil and others grieve his solemn identification with outsiders and the unfortunate. Join generations of readers who have fallen in love with his hauntingly beautiful tales.

Enjoy this favorite fairy tale July 24 – August 13 in Rollins Studio Theatre.

Run away with the circus!

Lastly, we bring you Carnival. This huge cast of singers, dancers, and circus performers tells the story of a young French orphan who runs away to join the circus. Carnival is straight from a dream – with singing puppets, daring feats, and a little magic.

This intriguing show finds its origins int he 1953 MGM musical Lili. This film revolves around Lili, an impressionable young girl, running away from her past and into the enchanting life of the circus, where she is captivated by a magnificent magician and a troubled puppeteer. In 1961, Lili became the first film ever to be adapted to a Broadway musical. Lili’s emotional journey is expertly conveyed through Bob Merill’s score for the musical, which many have said is the best work of his career.

Experience the magic August 3 – August 13 in the Rollins Studio Theatre.
