January 21, 2016 (Austin, TX) — Everyone’s favorite children’s book comes to life live on stage at the Long Center! The Long Center brings the classic children’s story to life with the live-action stage version of Where the Wild Things Are! Perfect for children and families, Where the Wild Things Are goes on sale Thursday, January 21st for its week-long run in the Rollins Studio Theatre April 13-17, 2016.
What do you do when you are a small child and you have exhausted your mother’s patience both with your words and deeds to the point where you are sent to your room without your supper? Well, if you are Max, in Maurice Sendak’s wonderful picture book Where The Wild Things Are, you use your imagination to both explain your deeds and occupy the time without being bored.
Feeling misunderstood at home and at school, mischievous Max (Max Records) escapes to the land of the Wild Things, majestic — and sometimes fierce — creatures. They allow Max to become their leader, and he promises to create a kingdom where everyone will be happy. However, Max soon finds that being king is not easy and that, even being with the Wild Things, there is something missing.
Whether you’re experiencing the story for the first time, or re-living the adventure again, join Max and all of his friends for a live theatrical experience you won’t forget!
