Flying High with Blue Lapis Light in 2016

Blue Lapis Light kicks off their 2016 season in a brand new, expanded and renovated studio at their new home in South Austin. With a fabulous team of teachers, students, and an incredible crew, Austin’s premier aerial dance company gives us a sneak peek of what’s to come.

About the Studio

Thanks to our beloved community, the Blue Lapis studio expands to meet the needs of its dancers, students, friends, and family.  While we were at the Carver Museum, mirrors and sprung floors arrived at Old Manchaca.

We had a wonderful student showcase at the Carver Museum, January 7 & 8 where the Blue Lapis students performed at the theater for friends and family.  With 16 aerial dances, we prepared for weeks culminating in an amazing show.  The show is as amazing as the people in it.  Thank you to the incredible crew, students, and audience for making Within & Beyond an event to remember.

When the students come back to classes, January 25, they are coming back to a studio with 18ft mirrors in both rooms and a sprung dance floor.  We can now offer dance classes like ballet and modern and deepen our aerial artistry with added dimension and clarity.  Thank you to our friends in flight and to the remarkable craftsmen whose contributions are making a beautiful Blue Lapis Studio.  We love you!

Classes at Blue Lapis Light

Classes are offered to students of all ages.  Blue Lapis Light specializes in aerial silks, with classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students, group or private sessions.  Also, Harness classes are available, allowing students to run on walls and dance suspended in the air. BLL3

Special workshops are offered in site-specific dance, movement awareness, and custom classes for big and small groups.  Each summer the Children’s Aerial Creation Camp leads groups of children ages 8-12 in collaborative choreography, creating a unique performance for friends and family at the end of week.

Classes start January 25th at the Blue Lapis Light Studio. Sessions are available throughout the spring and summer, and can be purchased here.
