Why You Want—No, Need—to See That Little B@%!$ From the Prairie

Everyone’s favorite villain is coming to Austin! Alison Arngrim is bringing her hilarious comedy and life story to the Rollins Studio Theatre in Confessions of a Prairie Bitch, April 28 – May 3. Get excited- when else is it socially acceptable to say “bitch” to the box office without repercussions?

Long before Regina George there was Little House on the Prairie’s resident mean girl, Nellie Oleson. As dedicated fans know, the popular Little House would have been nothing without its infamous villain.  Nellie Oleson was the perfect rival to wholesome, innocent, and a bit naive protagonist Laura Ingalls.  With her angelic looks and hateful attitude, Nellie is the girl everyone loves to hate. And Alison Arngrim eats it up.

Arngrim perfectly played the role of Nellie from 1974 to 1981. She was so convincing as the nasty Nellie that- true story- people are still scared of her to this day! Alison says “Even now strangers sometimes shy away from me until they realize that I’m not going to hurt them.” Don’t worry, she doesn’t bite (we think).

Over the years, Alison has learned to embrace Nellie Oleson and her wickedness- turning it into her latest and greatest project. In 2010 she wrote a best-selling memoir about her time as Nellie titled Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated. Suiting, no? The book was such a success, she decided to take her talents on the road, with her next stop being none other than the ATX.

Now in her hysterical one-woman show, Alison’s going to give audiences a reality check on “the facts of life” like no one else has ever done before, but sure as hell should have!

Confessions of a Prairie Bitch the perfect show for everyone who likes their Little House with a little edge and a lot of Nellie. Plus, stick around after the show for a meet and greet with Alison herself. Come on, you get some pretty serious bragging rights once you say you had a cocktail with the little bitch from the prairie.
